Meet the Artist- Huck Heydorn
If art is a journey then mine tracks the path of beauty.
When my way is clear I often find myself in that white
moment blissfully doing what I do. In return for the
privilege I try to create art that reflects my reverence for
nature. Having and spending the time to look and be
present when beauty reveals itself is, in itself, a great
fortune and I am doubly blessed to share that with you.
On my journey I have sipped from sweet perennial
mountain springs as well as brackish mosquito infested
desert seeps. I've climbed and sat atop towering red
rock spires, scaled jagged alpine peaks and plunged
into and squeezed through breathtaking canyon
narrows. I've navigated dry and flooded creek-beds,
floated meandering rivers, rafted boulder strewn rapids
and kayaked glass-smooth and storm-tossed seas. Mine
is an enduring quest for glimpses of the sublime.
These days I find abundant subject matter close at hand
and have focused my work on Arizona scenes, many
found within a walk away from home. I believe nature
and scenes of nature are a balm for the ills of modern
life and ultimately the process and products of my
artistic journey come down to an unquenchable longing
to seek, visually capture and share the beauty I find.
